WASC Teacher-Scholar Model Working Group
The Teacher-Scholar Model Working Group focused on the following research questions from the Institutional Proposal (PDF):
- Why is the integration of teaching and faculty scholarship (encompassing research, scholarship, and creative activity) important?
- What should be the characteristics of the teacher-scholar at Cal Poly?
- What should be the goals and expectations for faculty at Cal Poly regarding teaching and scholarship?
- How successful are we currently in implementing the teacher-scholar model, i.e., how well are we meeting the goals and expectations defined in the previous question?
During 2008-09, the group focused on the capacity aspect of these questions, that is, what hard and soft infrastructure is in place to support and improve the teacher-scholar model? The group's draft report is now available for comment.
